This week's writing prompts are a little late, but since next week is a holiday week, this will serve as the writing prompts for this week, and next. Usually our prompts will be posted on Monday's like they have been in the past.
Our theme for this week is entitled TRAVEL TALES in honor of all the traveling that will be taking place during the holiday season. Whether it be a road trip to grandmas, or a private getaway on a jet for two lovers, some amazing stories have taken place during traveling. Let's dive into this week's prompts and we hope you find them inspiring!
- 1. Mysterious Disappearances: While exploring a remote location (village, forest, mountain, beach), you discover that a series of tourists have mysteriously vanished in that location over the years. What happens when you start to piece together the clues? Or will you be the next one to disappear?
- The Haunted Hotel: While on a road trip you book a stay at a secluded, odd, hotel. You soon learn it has a very dark history, and guests have reported strange occurrences. What happens when you start experiencing them too?
- Lost in the Wilderness: You are excited for an adventurous hike through a dense wilderness. As night falls, you get separated from your group. What awaits you in the dark and how will you survive the vast wilderness?
- The Doppelganger: While exploring a foreign city you come face-to-face with someone that looks exactly like you. Their world is sinister and dangerous, as you become tangled in their web, you start to lose touch with who you really are and what your reality is.
- Midnight Train: During a train ride across the country, you encounter some peculiar characters, who are they and what do they have in store during your journey?
- Hidden Gem: Describe a trip to a remote location that very few people know about. What do you experience while there and would you ever go back?
- Foody: You are on a road trip, and you want to experience culinary creations from various destinations. You go out of your way to find the best local spots. Write about your experiences and do your best to describe the food in fun and creative ways. Add something about the folks you meet along the way as well.
- Unexpected Adventure: Write about a trip that you take for the holidays at the last minute that turns into an adventure.
- Maps and Mishaps: While traveling to see friends for the holiday you and your travel mate end up getting lost. Cell reception is nonexistent, and you are trying to be guided by an old foldable printed map.
- Home for the Holidays: You are away at college, or living in another location, and you decide at the last minute to travel home for the holidays. When you arrive, nothing is what it is supposed to be, or where it is supposed to be. Where are you and why is this happening?
